Joining the lodge

To whom it may concern, I have been interested in becoming a Mason for a while, I understand I have to get a petition signed. Yet I don’t exactly know anyone in the Saint Marys area that is a Mason. I was hoping I could come by the lodge and talk to a member, or if I could just be nudged in the right direction. Respectfully, Michael W. Keefer

Past Dues

To the Brothers of St. Marys Masonic Lodge # 109, I hope this message finds all of you well and that you and your families are enjoying a wonderful holiday season. My name is Patrick Hayes, I was initiated in the lodge 8-4-2005, passed 1-21-2006, and raised 3-11-2006. The WM was Don Owens and my mentor was Robert Shad Jr. Both are excellent men and I cannot thank them enough for all that they did for me. I am writing to you today because for quite some time, I have not been in favor with the lodge and would like to explain my last ten years and would like to get in good standing and continue within the brotherhood. In 2008, my mother was diagnosed with colon cancer and it was aggressive and debilitating to say the least. I rose to the person in the family that attended to all medical needs, payments all while serving in the military. I lost my Mother in 2011 while I was serving in Saudi Arabia. From 2011-2014, I served in over 22 different countries largely consisting of the Gulf of Thailand region, Vietnam, Western Africa, and the Middle East, many countries that affiliations with the Free Masons was deemed Illegal. In 2015, due to draw downs in the service and an injury, I ended a 15 year career as an Officer and was severance out. My life took a large downturn at that point. I lost a career, was dealing with depression and PTSD, and nearly lost my family due to separations due to deployments and outlook on life. I am proud to say that through my faith and therapy, I successfully gained control of the depression and PTSD, have my family and 20 year marriage, re invented myself and have a new career here in Georgia. This letter may seem as though I am making excuses for not being in good standing. Actually, it is the opposite. My life events from 2010 – current have made me realize what is important in life. Faith, Family, a sense of contribution. For these reasons, I am asking for the brothers of the lodge to consider allowing me to regain my standing and forgive a Brother who wondered off. I need the Free Masons in my life, I still want to be the best man that I can be and contribute. After all, we should never limit ourselves and stop chasing the light. I would like to offer my most sincere apology for not being there for the last 9 years and request to have to opportunity to make up and get in good standing with the lodge. Though my resources are limited, it is my hope that I can find a lodge here in Loganville and continue my craft. I wish everyone the best and thank you for any consideration, Patrick Hayes
